Wake Forest Roadtrip Stop

Here are a few pictures that I took from the NCFIC roadtrip kickoff meeting at our church, Hope Baptist in Wake Forest. There were several hundred people there, and Mr. Brown, my father and Mr. Dohm gave messages and Mr. Breagy and other church leaders gave testimonies.

Training and Admonition of the Lord Conference

This past weekend our church put on a Training and Admonition of the Lord Conference. The speakers were my father and Mr. Brown. The conference was designed specifically to help the people of our church, though others were invited.

The Lepore family from Massachusetts stayed with us for the week of the conference. We had a good time with them. I went with them to King's Mountain Battlefield on Thursday while my father was at a business meeting in Charlotte, and I will try to put up a post about that soon.

The conference started on Friday night with sessions for adults only, and the subject was chastening and the use of the rod, and religion in the home.

The conference went all day Saturday with the entire families attending. My father started with a message on Proverbs 4 speaking to the children about how they should be seeking wisdom and understanding while they are in their parents' house. The purpose of childhood is not to play, it is to have a time of learning without the responsibilities of providing for a family. Mr Brown came next with a message on Proverbs 31. He spoke on the qualifications and roles of godly women.

By this time we were already running late, so the session on preparing children for adulthood was merged with a Q and A time. After lunch, Mr Brown gave a message on how boys and girls should relate and then gave some time for questions. My father gave a message on how parents and children need to redeem the time. Last there came more time for questions.

One of the things my father mentioned in his speech on redeeming the time is that most people spend too much time and money going to collage to learn things that they will never use.

Here are some pictures that I took at the conference:

New Hampshire Conference: Day 1

On Friday, January 8, we got up at 3:00 am to go to a conference that my dad was speaking at in Rindge, New Hampshire. It was hosted by a church up there. Four other people from our church came with us. We arrived at 5:00 pm. We ate Dinner at 6:00 pm, and Daddy's 1st message was at 7:30 pm. It was an evangelism conference, so he gave a talk was on "Knowing the Gospel." It was a good message. We were going to record it, but the recorder was in the camera bag, and we left it at home, so we do not have the recordings or any pictures.

Sufficiency of Scripture: Day 3

The first keynote on the third day of the Sufficiency of Scripture conference was by Kevin Swanson on "The Sufficiency of Scripture and Family Integration." The next message was a breakout. The message in the room that I ran the sound in was Andy Davis on "The Sufficiency of Scripture for Habits of Obedience." Then there was the lunch break. After the lunch break, I was in a talk by Paul Washer on "The Importance of Biblical Family Life for the Spread of the Gospel." It was a very good message. After that was a keynote, which I did not hear. We did not go to The Mysterious Islands screening because we had seen it at the premier in Durham, NC. You can read the post about that here. You can buy the CD Set from the Sufficiency of Scripture conference here.

Reforming the Church - Family Integrated Church Life Conference

We went to a conference done by NCFIC last Saturday. First there was a message by Scott Brown on "The Implications of the Sufficiency of Scripture." This talk was about how we should apply the sufficiency of scripture. Then after that there was a talk by my dad on "Dealing with a Culture at War Against Church and Family." This was about how we need to resist the influences of the culture. Then Mr. Tsantles gave a talk about "Establishing Biblical Church Life." He talked about his experience of coming to a family integrated church. Then Mr. Churchill gave a talk on "The Role of Fathers in Church and Family Life." This talk was about what a father needs to do.

After that we ate lunch. After lunch Steve Breagy gave a talk on "The Discipleship of Children." This talk is about how to disciple your children in the family and the church. Then my dad did a talk on "Applying the Regulative Principle of Worship." In this talk he went through our church service, and told how each thing our church does is from the Bible. Then Mr. Brown finished up by doing a talk on "The Family's Relationship to the Church." This talk was about how the church relates to the family and how the family relates to the church. I enjoyed the conference very much. I did not have a favorite because I liked them all. We forgot to bring the camera, so we do not have any pictures from it.

The Valley Campaign Tour - Day 1

On Sunday night, we left from our Sunday evening service about 8:45 pm, and we arrived at our Grandparent condo on Massanutten mountain at about 2:00 am. The next morning, Joshua, Mommy, and I went to scout out some of the battlefields, and also to get Joshua a calvary slouch hat. The first store we went to, we bought some prizes for the tour treasure hunt we made, but it did not have any slouch hats. Then we went to another civil war store, but the only slouch hats they had were too big for him. Then we went to the Hall of Valor museum shop to get a film so that we could preview it, to decide if we could watch it in the bus or not.

Then we went to Front Royal to decide which stops on the driving tour we should go to. We were planning to get back to the condo in time to go to the hotel by 3:00, but we were late, so we did not get to the hotel until 4:30, which is when we wanted to get to the Golden Corral to set up for our after dinner talks. Daddy did a talk giving an overview of American history leading up to the Civil War, and then I showed how to load a Colt .44 army pistol, and then Joshua did a talk on the weapons of the civil war and an overview of the week. Then Daddy did a thumbnail sketch of the people he is going to talk about this week. Then all of the people went back to the hotel, and Joshua and Stephen Breagy were testing the sound to make sure it worked. Then we got ready for bed. We have a few people from another family and Ryan Glick, our tour bus coordinator, staying with Joshua and I, and Mommy and Daddy were staying in an adjoining room. Rachel is staying in the room with some of the Breagy ladies and another of our friends. Some pictures:

Shenendoah Valley Tour

Stonewall Jackson

We are going on a tour of Stonewall Jackson Campaign of 1862 in the Shenandoah Valley, VA. It will be like a mini Faith and Freedom Tour, but with my father and brother Joshua as speakers. My father will be talking about the importance and significance of the events, and the character of some of the men involved, and Joshua will be describing the battles. I will try to do a post for each day of the tour. You can read some other posts on our blog about the Civil War here. How the Church can Stengthen the Family Conference

This past weekend we had a NCFIC conference at our church called, How can the Church Strengthen the Family in the 21st Century. This was the biggest conference we did this year. We had several speakers in from out of town, including Kevin Swanson, Jeff Pollard and Bill Einwechter. Scott Brown, Steve Breagy, Jason Dohm and my father, the elders at our church, also spoke. About 300 people from all over the country attended.

My father gave two breakout messages, one on the Lord's Supper, and one on Family Worship. During his talk on Family Worship, he got so animated that people could here him in other rooms! Here are some pictures:

Kevin Swanson was one of my favorite speakers. He is a pastor from Colorado, and he is the leader of the homeschool group in that state. He is very active in his preaching. My favorite message that he gave was called Surviving Tough Economic Times. In that message he spoke on the current economic crisis, and his main point was that even though things are not going well, we should trust God and obey his commands regarding money. It was very good.

Bill Einwechter and some of his family stayed with us during the conference. He gave two messages on women in civil leadership. Here are two of his articles on the subject, on Women Magistrates, and What about Deborah.

Stephen and I helped David Brown to record the messages. Everyone who was on the recording staff had to wear a white shirt, black pants and a black bow-tie. I was in charge of one of the breakout rooms, and I also edited a lot of the messages. It was a lot of fun!
