Beach

Two weeks ago we went to Duck, NC, which is near Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks. We arrived Thursday afternoon. Friday morning we went to the Wright Brothers Memorial. It is on the hill from which they conducted glider tests, which was next to where they lived while they were down there and where they first flew. There was also a museum about the history of the Wright Brothers before and after they invented and flew the first airplane. After that we went to Jockey's Ridge, which is a bunch of sand dunes. It was fun to walk on and climb and roll down the dunes. Jockey's Ridge is also where people fly hang-gliders, but we did not do that. After that, we went to where the first colony, Roanoke, was located. There we saw a recreation of the earthworks which they had there. Finally, we went to a used book store. We could not stay very long because it was closing time.

On Saturday, Mommy and Rachel went shopping while Joshua and I played Axis & Allies and Daddy started writing Communion of Christ's Body. After lunch we went down to the beach. Even though the water was cold, Joshua and I swam in it while Mommy, Daddy, and Rachel took a walk on the beach. After that we packed up and came home.

Scotland - Day 1

We are now in Scotland! We arrived a few days ago and have been on two days of the Faith and Freedom Tour, and have really enjoyed learning all the Scottish and Covenanter history.

We flew out of Charlotte after church. Our flight was delayed because of mechanical and weather problems, and we arrived in Philadelphia, and discovered that we had missed our connection to Glasgow. Kelly Bradrick, her baby Triumph and Blair Brown, who we were traveling with to Scotland, got an alternate flight through London. We walked to the gate of that flight, and they finally got us the last five seats on the plane. After the all-night flight we arrived in London, and we boarded our plane to Glasgow, but Mrs. Bradrick and Ms. Brown were not able to get through security. We arrived in Glasgow, got our car, and waited for them, but they had gotten on a flight to Edinburgh, where we were really headed. When they did not come, we drove to Edinburgh just in time for the opening dinner, and they arrived before we left Glasgow. Our luggage did not make it, since we barely got on the flight to London.

We really enjoyed the speeches that Mr. Doug Phillips and Mr. Potter made, and we also enjoyed Charlie Zahm's ballads.

200 Year Plan Conference: Thursday

Recently we went to the 200 Year Family Plan conference hosted by Vision Forum. The speakers were Doug Phillips and Geoff Bodkin. It was at the Empire Theater in San Antonio. We arrived on a Thursday, and left on a Monday. We got up early in the morning on Thursday, and flew into San Antonio with a layover in Dallas. We got there before lunch, and ate lunch in downtown San Antonio and then went to the Alamo. We learned about how the men defended the Alamo against Santa Anna, and how they were all killed. One interesting thing that we saw was Davy Crockett's rifle, powder horn and other equipment which were on display at the Alamo. One interesting thing that we learned was that the distinctive curved top of the Alamo was added after the battle by the United States government. This was very interesting.

After going to the Alamo, we walked around downtown San Antonio, but did not go to the Riverwalk. We went to a little toy soldier store, but did not buy anything. After walking in San Antonio, we went back to the hotel, which was near the airport because the ones in the downtown were very expensive, and got settled in. We went to dinner with one of Daddy's employees and her husband that live in Texas. We met them at a restaurant in a shopping center called the Rim. It was a Mexican grill restaurant, and it was very good. After dinner we went home to get a good night's sleep, and get up in the morning to go to the conference.

Scotland - Day 14

Yesterday we left from Ruthven Barracks, and drove to Glasgow and got a hotel there. We spent the night and then went to the airport to fly back to the USA. Our plane flight left about 10:30 a.m. Then we flew to Iceland, because our plane flight was on Iceland Air. We could have gone on a tour, because we had to wait for a long time, but we did not schedule it ahead. Then we took off to go to Baltimore. On the plane, Stephen was bored so he took pictures of himself with his camera. Here are a FEW (he took about 15 that he didn't delete. Some of them are of out the window.) He even took one of his cheek, which came out bright orange. He finally fell asleep right before the plane started descending (it was about midnight in Glasgow) and it was hard to wake him up when we had to get off the plane.

Here is a picture of Iceland (from the plane as well)
We really enjoyed our trip to Scotland.
