Persecuting the Persecuted: How Voice of the Martyrs Funded Abuse of Nigerian Orphans

Our church has just released a video on a very sad and tragic situation that we have discovered. Voice of the Martyrs is a ministry that purports to help Christian victims of persecution. However, we've discovered that their work in Nigeria was in a tragic state – orphans were being abused and mistreated, financial fraud was rampant, and those who were trying to spread the word were being removed. When we reported this to the office in the United States, they seemed more concerned with covering up a scandal than ensuring that justice was done.

Please visit this web page to watch a video that describes the situation, sign the petition, and spread the word.

"To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke"
Isaiah 58:6b

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light."
Ephesians 5:11-13

Thank you.

Skiing Through the Southern Snowpocalypse

When a blizzard drops a whopping 2" of snow in North Carolina, many of us hunker down with a good supply of milk, bread and eggs. Some of us dig out some 30 year old skis, crank up the Jeep, and spend the afternoon tumbling up and down the road.

Announcing Joshua Edward Horn, II

He was a bit of a surprise, since he arrived 2 1/2 weeks ahead of his due date. Both little Joshua and his amazing mother are doing well, praise be to God.

"O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger." Psalm 8:1-2

Fall in the Linville Gorge

Stephen and I with several others went backpack camping in the Linville Gorge this past week. We went to Hawksbill Mountain, and down to the river via the Devil's Hole Trail. Here's a few pictures from our trip:

Massachusetts Tour Day 6: Adams Family

On our final day of touring we studied the Adams family - John, Abigail and their son John Quincy. We visited the presidential birthplaces, just a few dozen feet apart, and saw the Unitarian Church that they attended.

Massachusetts Tour Day 5: Saratoga

On Friday we drove out to upstate New York, stopping along the way at Springfield Armory and the Battle of Bennington Monument in Vermont. Our last stop was at the beautiful and critical battlefield of Saratoga, where an entire British army surrendered to the Continental troops.
